I kept looking for a proper hatch chart for eastern Canada and couldn't find one, so I built it.

Two regions: Southern Québec and Southern Ontario. Hatch chart, nymphing guide, dryfly packing tool, and solunar calendar. Switch at the top anytime.

Timing is a best guess based on water temps and local knowledge. Adjust for your river and your season.

How to read this: Fishing peaks near new moon and full moon - strongest combined gravitational pull. Major periods when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (~2-3 hrs). Minor periods at moonrise and moonset. When a major period lines up with dawn or dusk, exceptional conditions. Quarter moons = slower fishing. Weather and pressure can override all of this.

The 80/20 rule: trout eat subsurface about 80% of the time. Nymphs work before, during, and after any hatch and all season long when nothing is rising. The QC timing shown is the most productive window, but most nymphs fish well from ice-out through freeze-up.
